Cryptocurrency Farming Becoming More Prominent In Canadian Ghost Town
Cryptocurrency farming is helping to support Ocean Falls.

The small town of Ocean Falls, British Columbia has seen much better days in the past. But today, the town is becoming a popular place for cryptocurrency mining functions. Local power services are making it possible for people to afford to mine for currencies in this part of Canada.

New bitcoin farms are being set up in the area. These new farms are being organized in some of the old buildings surrounding the city. These include many places that had been abandoned for a while.

The Main Principle

A key part of using Ocean Falls for currency mining comes from how the area is home to a major hydroelectric dam. The affordable energy produced by the mine helps with producing a large amount of power that is easy to afford and set up for many purposes.

Multiple computers are being used in the town for mining intentions. The identities of the groups that are using these farms are unknown, although it is known that several different entities around Canada have started working with such processes to get these coins produced soon.

Current Mining Functions

The mining actions supported in Ocean Falls are being promoted to help encourage further growth in the area. About 6 MW of power have been used in Ocean Falls in recent time, although the total is on pace to grow to 20 MW before the end of 2020. About 17,500 bitcoin mining computers are expected to be set up in the area with about 30 MW of power being used at this point. The added power will come from the extensive computers used in the mining process.

Cool winds from the area are being spread out into the buildings that the machines are in. Added fans are being used to move air in and out of the buildings. This is to keep the machines being used around Ocean Falls from overheating or being too hard to control.

About the Town

Ocean Falls has been growing as a place for cryptocurrency mining, but it is a town that has essentially become a ghost town. The town was once a company town for a major pulp and paper mill company. There were around 4,000 people living in the area at one point, but today the population of Ocean Falls is considered to be less than 100.

The area had been popular thanks to the cheap infrastructure in the area and the low cost for getting energy. These principles are used by cryptocurrency miners to help them with getting their currencies of interest mined accordingly.

The town is still extremely remote from other places. Ocean Falls close to 700 miles of driving away from Vancouver. There are some port spaces in the area for transport off of the coastline, but the ports in the area are not all that busy outside of a few ferries each week. Still, there is a possibility that the cryptocurrency market may help to get Ocean Falls to come back to life as more groups aim to use the area for handling different cryptocurrency-related functions.
